Steph Curry’s Heartfelt Gesture Towards Lakers Rookie Quincy Olivari

Olivari

Lakers rookie Quincy Olivari shared a special moment with one of his idols in the Lakers final pre-season game before opening night.

Although his childhood hero Steph Curry didn’t play, the pair exchanged some words and took a picture together after the game.

Olivari became emotional while recalling the conversation he had with the Warriors legend during his postgame press conference.

“I don’t even know what to say, man,” Olivari said. “That’s my favorite player ever. The first thing he told me was, ‘I’m a big fan of your game.’ And truth be told, I’m a big fan of him.

“I had his jersey (growing up). He signed it twice. I used to sleep in that jersey. I just wanted to be like him so bad. Just to be able to meet him, him be able to have some respect for me, and for us to talk in the back—he gave me a pair of his shoes and signed them. That meant the world to me, man. It just means a lot.”

Curry had another exchange with Olivari later that Friday night in an Instagram post of his.

“Pleasure bro,” Curry wrote. “Appreciate you being a real one and letting me know the history!”

Curry also made his own post with Olivari in it. so he returned the favor and commented on the post, “Appreciate u big dawg”.

Olivari was an undrafted free agent who signed with the Lakers this summer after five seasons of college basketball.

Following the Lakers v Warriors game in which he dropped 22 points, seven rebounds and two assists while shooting 8-for-16 from the field and 5-for-9 from deep, he was rewarded with a two-way deal with the purple and gold.

Such a wholesome way to start the season.
