Stephen A. Smith weighs in on Deshaun Watson’s performance

Stephen A. Smith Sounds Off On Deshaun Watson After Performance

The Cleveland Browns closed out last year’s regular season on a high note.

They looked like a team that had almost all the pieces to be very competitive.

But just like the New York Jets over the past three years or so, they continue to be a competent quarterback away from that.

Deshaun Watson had a performance to forget, and a lot of fans have finally lost their patience with him.

Notably, that includes Stephen A. Smith.

The controversial pundit ripped him over his performance vs. the Dallas Cowboys.

Talking on ESPN’s First Take, he argued that while the Browns weren’t a horrible team, they might have a horrible quarterback.

He stated that what he did with the Houston Texans was a long time ago, and the fact that he couldn’t get anything going despite having all those weapons is worrisome.

Granted, the Browns’ starting tackles were inactive with injuries, but still, Watson was missing his receivers by a lot.

He held onto the ball for too long and took sacks that were mostly on him, and he was simply erratic from start to finish.

It wouldn’t be crazy to think that Kevin Stefanski should consider pulling the plug on Watson and giving Jameis Winston a look.

We’re talking about a team that made the playoffs with 39-year-old Joe Flacco at quarterback, so they’re clearly not that far off.

As for Watson, his trade might go down as the worst in NFL history, and that poor decision will only be topped by the decision to give him $230 million fully guaranteed.
