After 24 seasons with the New England Patriots, legendary head coach Bill Belichick is officially unemployed, with longtime team owner Robert Kraft and the team’s brass parting ways with the future Hall of Famer.
As if losing his job only a few years after Tom Brady willingly left the team in NFL free agency wasn’t bad enough, the recent documentary about the team’s incredibly successful run of six Super Bowl titles took a lot of shots at Belichick for the way he conducted his business with the team over the years.
Although “The Dynasty” documentary glorified the team’s dominance over two decades in the NFL, Belichick was regularly viewed as a source of negativity and someone that players really didn’t have much fun playing for in New England.
The criticism of Belichick was so bad that some believe it ruined the documentary altogether as it was so one-sided, with Brady and Kraft coming out looking like heroic figures while the head coach was the persistent villain, always trying to tear things down.
Former Patriots star Stephon Gilmore is the latest to chime in on the documentary as he took to Twitter to praise Belichick.
“Just watched The Dynasty. Bill was the greatest coach I’ve ever been around. Don’t let that fool you. I’ll never forget we were a predominantly man team during the 2018 season all the way up to the Super Bowl. When we played the Rams we switched to Zone,” he tweeted.

With no telling what will happen with Belichick’s legacy from here on out as he was unable to secure another coaching job for the 2024 NFL season, it seems like a disappointing end to the career of one of the greatest head coaches in NFL history.
Although no one expects him to be out of work for long, Belichick will have to wait to prove his worth with another team, which might not come until the 2025 NFL season.
