Manchester City is intensifying efforts to acquire one of the most promising young forwards from France, with reports indicating that the Premier League champions have set their sights on Mathys Detourbet, a striker from Troyes.
The 18-year-old forward has quickly gained attention across Europe, attracting interest not only from Manchester City but also from Serie A team Roma, Ligue 1 club Monaco, and various teams in the Bundesliga.
Scouts have been monitoring Detourbet’s progress throughout this season, as he has showcased remarkable movement, composure in finishing, and an impressive physical presence for his age.
Although still young, he has demonstrated the capability to compete effectively against experienced players, prompting clubs to act swiftly in securing his future before his market value increases significantly.
Competition from Roma for Detourbet’s signature
Roma has already expressed a strong interest, reportedly placing an €8 million bid with an additional €2 million in potential bonuses, which was turned down by Troyes.
Despite this setback, Roma is in the process of initiating further negotiations as they seek to gain an edge over rival clubs.
Italian sources suggest that Roma views Detourbet as a long-term investment within their attacking lineup, aiming to emulate the success seen with other young forwards who have developed well in Serie A.
However, Manchester City seems to hold a significant advantage in this transfer pursuit.
Detourbet has recently toured City’s facilities, signaling the progress of their interest.
Importantly, Troyes is affiliated with the City Football Group (CFG), which includes Manchester City, Girona, Palermo, among other global clubs.
City’s Favorable Position in Pursuit of the French Forward
