The 2024 Hamburg Open is the only ATP 500 clay-court tournament after Wimbledon, and the draw for it has been released.
Running from July 15th to 21st, not many top players, outside of clay-court specialists who love playing on the red dirt, usually make their way to the German city. However, the situation is much different in 2024.
The Paris Olympics will be played on the clay courts, meaning that many players will want to fine-tune their game prior to the Olympics, choosing the only ATP 500 tournament available to do so.
The top seed at the tournament will also get the most support from the home fans, as Alexander Zverev will once again attempt to win a title on home soil. He couldn’t do it this year in Halle, and in Hamburg, he will start against one of the qualifiers.
If recent Roland Garros finalist manages to win his first-round match, he will play against the winner of the match between Facundo Diaz Acosta and Hugo Gaston in the second round of the tournament.
On the opposite side of the draw is the second-seeded Holger Rune, who will have a mammoth task in the first round. The young Dane will have to beat Fabian Marozsan, who knows how it feels to beat a top player on clay, once stunning Carlos Alcaraz in Rome.
Arthur Fils, who is the fifth seed, will also want to prove his qualities on the red dirt. He will have a great chance to do that, taking on clay specialist Jaume Munar in the first round of the tournament.
Another clay specialist in Hamburg will be Sebastian Baez, seeded third, who will start against home player Dominik Koepfer. The full draw for the 2024 Hamburg Open can be viewed below.
