Strong Start for Kevin Chappell at the 20245 John Deere Classic

Kevin Chappell starts strong at 20245 John Deere Classic

After struggling in recent PGA Tour events, Kevin Chappell found his rhythm on Thursday at the John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois. Despite a rocky start at the RBC Canadian Open, Chappell came out strong with a 64 at TPC Deere Run.

So what changed for Chappell between his last tournament and Thursday’s impressive performance? It seems that spending time with kids provided a much-needed boost. Chappell, a father of three, spent time with friend Kevin Kisner’s family, including five kids under 10 years old.

Chappell credited his children as a source of motivation to get back on track in his golf career. He mentioned how he wants his kids to have memories of him playing great golf and not missing cuts.

If Chappell wants to contend at the John Deere Classic, he’ll need to continue his solid play. The tournament usually sees low scores, with reigning champion Sepp Straka shooting a 62 last year.

Aside from the competition, there’s also the added incentive of securing a spot in The Open. Two exemptions are up for grabs for players who make the cut at the John Deere Classic.

Chappell remains focused on winning and believes that his best golf is yet to come. Despite recent struggles, he sees Thursday’s round as a step in the right direction towards achieving positive results in future events.
