Struggling to offload Casemiro, Manchester United’s potential signing of Manuel Ugarte at risk of falling through – Latest transfer updates for the Reds

Casemiro and Antony on chopping block as INEOS begins transfer overhaul - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have strengthened their attack and defence so far this window, but their plans for midfield reinforcements have suffered a major jolt as per reports.

It was painful to watch Casemiro last season with the Brazilian struggling to track back and often seen resorting to silly sliding tackles instead of running back.

He even had a falling out with Erik ten Hag before the FA Cup final and even though those issues have been sorted, INEOS are keen to move on the Brazilian who is also one of the highest earners at the club.

They are targeting Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain with the Uruguayan keen to come to Manchester. However, as relayed by The Peoples Person, a deal for the Copa America 2024 star is dependent on outgoings.

Midfield additions

The Red Devils are open to making a loan approach but the Parisian club might not accept, having brought the 23-year-old to Paris only one year ago. If they insist on a permanent deal, United could be in danger of missing out.

CaughtOffside have claimed that a deal for the Uruguay international is in “serious danger of collapsing” with the 20-time English league champions currently struggling to find a buyer for the former Real Madrid superstar.

There was plenty of interest from Saudi Arabian clubs but the likes of Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr and Al-Qadsiah have so far refrained from putting in a firm offer with United asking for £35 million, only half of what they signed him for two seasons ago.

“Paris Saint-Germain’s excellent Uruguayan midfielder, Manuel Ugarte, remains a key signing for Manchester United this summer.

“CaughtOffside sources with knowledge of the latest developments understand, however, that until Brazilian midfielder, Casemiro, is sold, there simply isn’t enough room in the budget.

Ugarte deal in danger?

“Despite the reported interest of Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr and Al-Qadsiah, the Red Devils are having trouble moving Casemiro on.”

United cannot afford to terminate Casemiro’s contract as it would end up costing them a lot while any further dilly-dallying might lead to other clubs entering the race for Ugarte.

Whether United agree to lower the 32-year-old’s asking price or if the player agrees to take a wage cut to force through a move remains to be seen.

For now, INEOS seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place with regards to midfield reinforcements. Ten Hag is open to another loan deal for Sofyan Amrabat instead of the PSG star. The new co-owners now need to decide.
