World No. 1 Iga Swiatek advanced to the BNP Paribas Open final on Friday, defeating Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk 6-2, 6-1.
Needing one hour and nine minutes to prevail, Swiatek will next face Greek star Maria Sakkari in Sunday’s final.
Sakkari ousted the reigning US Open winner later in the day, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-2.
Swiatek and Sakkari have played on five occasions, with Sakkari owning a 3-2 head-to-head lead. Swiatek has won the last two encounters. The pair have not played in since the 2022 BNP Paribas Open final.
Saturday’s star-studded men’s semifinals will feature No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz facing No. 3 seed Jannik Sinner and No. 4 seed Daniil Medvedev taking on No. 17 seed Tommy Paul.
