The Minnesota Vikings have a reliable pass-catcher at the tight end position, which is a must in today’s game.
Nonetheless, as crucial as it is to get the tight end involved in the flow of the offense, those pass-catching TEs don’t grow on trees.
That’s why the Vikings made sure to get their hands on one of the best available by trading for TJ Hockenson, who immediately became a factor for Kevin O’Connell’s offense.
Notably, Hockenson always knew that it was a perfect situation for him.
In his latest appearance on Barstool Sports’ Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, he claimed that he knew that he was most likely going to be traded.

He was entering the final year of his contract with the Detroit Lions and there was plenty of speculation about whether they would extend him or trade him, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to see him being on the move.
He adds that he actually got a little excited when he found out that he was going to be traded to the Vikings of all places, as he knew he was going to play for a young coach.
Fast forward to today, and he’s been an integral part of what they do, and this partnership should continue for years to come.
The Vikings are entering a new era without Kirk Cousins in town and pass catchers such as Hockenson going to be huge for J.J. McCarthy’s development as he walks his first steps in the league.
