Ten Hag unlikely to remain as manager until Christmas, claims Manchester United legend

Ten Hag won't last until Christmas says Man Utd legend

Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham has criticized current manager Erik ten Hag for only winning less important trophies such as the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Sheringham, speaking at the launch of Ladbrokes’ “Gaffer of all Accas”, believes that Ten Hag will be sacked by Christmas, despite acknowledging that it is never pleasant to see managers being let go.

During his time at Man Utd, the Dutch tactician has had mixed reviews, winning two domestic cups in two seasons but failing to meet expectations in the Premier League and Champions League.

While some Red Devils fans may have enjoyed the cup successes, especially the FA Cup triumph over Manchester City, the overall quality of football displayed by the team has been disappointing.

Sheringham is not impressed by Ten Hag’s tenure and has dismissed the importance of cup competitions, as they were considered secondary during his playing days under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

Reflecting on the current situation, Sheringham said, “When you’re finishing eighth in the Premier League, that’s quite clearly not good enough for Man United. Full stop. End of story for me. You’ve got to change what’s going on.”

“Do I think the manager will be there at the end of the season? No, I don’t. I think he’ll be gone by Christmas,” Sheringham added.

He emphasized the significance of the Premier League and Champions League, stating that these are the main objectives that Man United should aim for, rather than settling for domestic cup victories.

Sheringham concluded by highlighting the high standards expected at Old Trafford, comparing the current situation to the club’s past successes and urging for a return to those levels of performance.
