The Texans’ big improvement and unexpected AFC South crown have Houston’s front office trying to land more talent to surround their young superstar and team.

With several notable offseason moves, the Texans did just that – and made history to boot.

NFL.com shared the historic nature of Houston’s offseason acquisitions, noting three moves that have never been made by the same NFL team in a single year.

By signing linebacker Danielle Hunter and trading for running back Joe Mixon and wide receiver Stefon Diggs, Houston added a trio of players that had 10-plus sacks, 1,000-plus rushing yards, and 100-plus receptions in the previous season.

The closest offseason moves to Houston’s historic acquisitions were from the Las Vegas Raiders.

In 2022, the Raiders added wide receiver Davante Adams and defensive end Chandler Jones, giving them a 10-sack defender and 100-reception player in the same offseason.

The only other instance in NFL history near this level was in 2001 when the Raiders traded for 10-sack defender Trace Armstrong and obtained 1,000-yard rusher Charlie Garner.

Houston was able to add these higher-salary players as quarterback C.J. Stroud remains on his rookie contract.

The Texans want to maximize their opportunity to reach the Super Bowl with Stroud, making moves that will ensure the young star has talented athletes surrounding him.

Last year, Houston advanced to the Divisional Round by defeating the Cleveland Browns in the AFC playoffs.
