The Manitoba Moose had a tough challenge ahead of them in facing Remi Poirier before the Calder Cup Playoffs started.
The Moose and Texas Stars had a unique situation with a series of games in Cedar Park leading into the playoffs, setting up a potential five-game series on Texas ice.
Poirier redeemed himself by shutting out the Moose with 41 saves in the final game, after a tough outing last Friday where he allowed eight goals. Despite the rough end to his season, Poirier’s performance in the series finale was crucial.
After a Game 1 victory, the Stars secured their spot in the Central Division Semifinals with Poirier’s strong play and goals from Fredrik Karlström.
On the other hand, Dustin Wolf had an exceptional performance for the Wranglers in the AHL playoffs, stopping all 46 shots in a 2-0 win over the Tucson Roadrunners.
Wolf’s stellar play earned praise from his coach Trent Cull, who highlighted his incredible saves and overall effort in the game.
With playoff experience and a desire to end his AHL career on a high note, Wolf is motivated to pursue the Calder Cup with the Wranglers once again.
