Following their tough loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Los Angeles Chargers realized it was time that they clean house.

Reports stated that Brandon Staley would be gone at the end of the season, but he didn’t even manage to make it to the finish line.

The team decided to part ways with the head coach and GM, Tom Telesco.

Now, whoever takes the reins of the team is going to have a tough time making moves, as the team’s salary cap situation is far from ideal, as pointed out by The 33rd Team on Twitter.

Khalil Mack and Nick Bosa make a big chunk, with almost $75 million combined.

Keenan Allen and Mike Williams make north of $34 and $32 million each as well, and even though J.C. Jackson is no longer with the team, they still have $20.8 million of his contract on their books.

Then, they’re on the hook for over $19 million a piece with Derwin James and Justin Herbert.

The Chargers went all in and acquired some elite talents to finally get over the hump but to no avail.

Their defense ranked among the league’s worst in most major categories, and their offense took a major stepback over the past month despite having a plethora of playmakers.

The only silver lining about this is that they have a young quarterback who’s still far from his prime and he’s going to be good — perhaps even elite — for years to come, but it’s going to be tough to keep this roster together under those numbers.
