The Impact of Major Tournaments in Global Golf

Since retiring from professional golf, Stephanie Connelly Eiswerth has made five of her six career major starts. This week, the 36-year-old is set to make her seventh. She’ll tee it up at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, an LPGA major that she has played every year since 2019.

Connelly Eiswerth, who played full time on what today is known as the Epson Tour from 2009 to 2016, seems to have found her second life in golf as a PGA teaching professional at San Jose Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida. Her love of the game has not diminished at all, but now there’s another layer to it.

“It’s all very interesting,” she said of teaching. “It’s something new every day.”

Nearly 10 years have passed since Connelly Eiswerth qualified for her first major, the 2015 U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster (Pennsylvania) Country Club. It came at a critical time to keep her invested in a professional career. When she graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2009, she left with status on the LPGA’s developmental tour and eventually earned the status on what is known today as the Symetra Tour.
