Over the years, the NFL Draft has become a major event, even more so than the drafts for the nation’s three other major pro sports leagues.

In fact, the NFL Draft has become an unofficial holiday for football fanatics across the land.

This year, it is being held in Detroit, and the Detroit Lions’ official Twitter account displayed the humongous crowd that is on hand.

This is quite a time to be a football fan in the Detroit area.

The Lions, who had been a bit of a laughingstock for most of the last 30 years, now have a very strong team, and in 2023, they went 12-5 and advanced to the NFC Championship Game, where they were arguably less than two quarters away from punching their ticket to the Super Bowl.

In fact, 2023 saw them win their first playoff game since all the way back in the 1991 season, even though they have had legends such as Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson in the years since.

This year’s draft promises to be one of the best ever and perhaps the best draft class since 1983, when Dan Marino, John Elway, and Jim Kelly entered the league.

There are three or four quarterbacks who have legitimate franchise-player potential, as well as a number of wide receivers and offensive linemen who have the ability to become cornerstones for years to come.

The Lions only have the No. 29 pick this year, but they have an excellent team in place already, and perhaps they can take the next step this coming season and go somewhere they have never gone before: the Super Bowl.
