Things are looking bleak for the New York Mets as a tough offseason has spilled over into the regular season and sucked the life out of this franchise from the top down, as just about every key player on the roster is underperforming and the front office appears to be taken aback by the team’s lackluster performance.

While the offense has taken the brunt of the criticism, the starting pitching has been a major issue as well and ranks dead last in one crucial stat.

Codify shared a stat on Twitter that shows how many wins each team’s starting rotation has so far in 2024, with the Philadelphia Phillies at 34 and New York Yankees at 33 sitting atop the list, and the New York Mets ranking dead last with just 11.

The Mets rank 25th in the league with just 19 quality starts so far, five of which have been from Luis Severino, who has been excellent with a 4-2 record and 3.25 ERA.

Aside from Severino and Sean Manaea’s three wins, no other starter has more than one victory so far, as relief pitcher Reed Garrett leads the team with six wins out of the bullpen.

A big reason for the team only having 11 starting pitching wins is control, as the Mets have the second-most walks in baseball at 260, just narrowly behind the Chicago White Sox at 268.

Underperforming offense combined with consistently short outings from the rotation and too many blown leads by the back end of the bullpen is a disastrous combination, but that’s exactly what the Mets have been doing all season.
