One year after the Padres missed the playoffs in heartbreaking fashion, they have advanced to the National League Division Series by beating the Braves 5-4 in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series on Wednesday night at Petco Park.

In Game 1, the Padres dominated, but Game 2 was a much more intense affair. The Braves took an early lead, but the Padres struck back in the bottom of the inning with a bases-loaded situation that ended without any runs scored.

Despite a strong start by Braves pitcher Max Fried, the Padres found their rhythm in the second inning. They hit Fried hard, scoring multiple runs to take the lead. However, Padres’ starter Joe Musgrove left the game with an injury, putting pressure on the bullpen to deliver.

The Braves’ relievers stepped up, keeping the game close and giving their team a chance to come back. Although the Braves scored some runs, the Padres managed to hold on for the win.

With this victory, the Padres move on to face the Dodgers in the NLDS. The Padres have a strong pitching staff, which may give them an advantage over the Dodgers in the upcoming series.

The Braves, on the other hand, faced numerous challenges throughout the season, including injuries to key players. They will now turn their attention to next season, hoping for a fresh start and a healthy roster.

Overall, the Padres’ win over the Braves sets up an exciting NLDS matchup against the Dodgers, promising an intense series between the two rivals.
