The Royals’ Unfortunate Curse: A Look at Their Struggles

Why the Royals Were Cursed

The Kansas City Royals ended their seven-game losing streak with a win last night, barely holding onto their Wild Card spot. Despite ending the losing streak, the Royals struggled to secure the win, leaving nine runners on base in the first four innings. A scoreless game went into extra innings, and the Royals finally scored, thanks to a Nationals error. The losing streak, however, left many pondering what went wrong. While the team’s numbers weren’t terrible during the streak, they consistently lost close games. The Royals finally won by facing a struggling Nationals team desperate for a win. The losing streak has left many wondering what the Royals did to anger the baseball gods. Watching closely, there were several incidents that could be considered transgressions. From Bobby Witt Jr.’s celebratory home run to the pitcher’s failure to signal pop flies, the Royals may have brought their misfortune upon themselves. While the baseball gods may be unpredictable, the Royals must hope to break their curse and turn their luck around.
