Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love proved the doubters wrong last season when, after taking over the starting job for the departed Aaron Rodgers, he put up impressive numbers despite a shaky first half of the schedule.

He finished seventh in passing yards and second in passing touchdowns, and he led the Packers to the playoffs where they upset the Dallas Cowboys in the wild-card round in impressive fashion.

But one thing that separates big-time stars from others is how well they do under pressure, and as Mina Kimes pointed out, it’s something Love excelled at last season.

According to Kimes, he was third in QBR when pressured and fifth in pressure-to-sack rate, and both numbers are impressive for a first-time starter.

Many weren’t sure Love was worthy of being Rodgers’ successor when Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets last season after he was Green Bay’s QB1 since 2008.

Love had been in the NFL for three seasons, but he had barely gotten spot duty and hadn’t shown any indication that he had what it took to be a true franchise signal-caller.

But in the last eight games of the 2023 season, he threw 18 touchdown passes against just one interception while completing 70.25 percent of his pass attempts.

Green Bay won six of those games, allowing them to sneak into the playoffs as a wild-card team.

Against the Cowboys in the playoffs at “Jerry World,” Love completed 16 of 21 passes for 272 yards while throwing three touchdown passes and no interceptions as the Packers built a stunning 27-0 lead.

Most expect the Packers to be even better this season given how young Love and his four main wide receivers are.
