Arsenal achieved a crucial 3-2 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final, but the match ended with heightened tensions among key players.
Post-Match Clash Between Enzo Fernandez and Martin Zubimendi
Following the final whistle, a heated argument erupted at midfield involving Martin Zubimendi from Arsenal and Chelsea’s captain Enzo Fernandez.
The two midfielders had been engaged in a tactical duel throughout the match, and their dispute escalated into a physical confrontation as Fernandez seemed particularly agitated, requiring intervention from Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior.
While the exact cause of the altercation is unknown, the match’s intensity was marked by multiple bookings and allegations of time-wasting, leaving a sense of animosity lingering in the air.

Zubimendi, who scored the winning goal in the 71st minute, ultimately departed with his teammates, intensifying the rivalry for the upcoming second leg at the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea Remains in the Tie Thanks to Garnacho’s Two Goals
Although Chelsea suffered a defeat and experienced a post-match scuffle, they remain in contention for the tie thanks to an impressive second-half performance by Alejandro Garnacho.
As Arsenal appeared to have the match under control with goals from Ben White and Viktor Gyökeres, Rosenior brought on the young winger for his first home game in charge to turn the tide.
Garnacho quickly made an impact, scoring two goals to keep Chelsea’s hopes of reaching Wembley alive.
His first goal came in the 57th minute from a well-placed cross by Pedro Neto, followed by a second goal in the 83rd minute, striking a half-volley from a loose ball in the box to bring the score to 3-2.
Even though Zubimendi’s goal had briefly restored Arsenal’s two-goal lead, Garnacho’s efforts mean Chelsea only needs a one-goal victory in North London to send the match into extra time.
