Tiger Woods makes rare wood change in adjusted 2024 bag

Tiger Woods has traditionally been reticent to change out his fairway woods, but the bag he has brought to the Genesis has a surprise.

Woods has been seen using the new TaylorMade Qi10 Tour with custom loft adjustments.

He may have switched out the 3-wood after being impressed by the new Qi10, but his 5-wood remains the nearly six-year-old TaylorMade M3.

Woods has made the switch in a bid to add a string to his shot-shaping bow.

“The 3-wood is in play. I feel very comfortable with the [Qi10 Tour] 3-wood,” Woods responded when questioned about the change.

“I had to find the right shaft for it and decided to switch the shafts and go with what I have on my driver…I wanted to find something I could draw a little bit better and this one is definitely that.”

Woods stated that the shaft he is using on his Qi10 LS driver is a Graphite Design Tour AD VF 7 X, which goes well with the Tour AD VF 6 X shaft he has been using on his driver since the Hero World Challenge.

The maker describes this low-mid launch, low-spin shaft as “very stiff” at the tip, “stiff plus” in the centre, and “stiff” in the handle.

The TaylorMade Qi10 Fairway Wood has a sleek and attractive appearance because to its Infinity Crown design, which offers an unobstructed vision at address.

Additional assistance is available for off-center hits because to the wider sweet area indicated by the expanded face profile.

The 170 cc head size, which is somewhat smaller than average, offers the ideal amount of forgiveness.

The club features innovations like the laser-etched topline and Thru-Slot Speed Pocket.

Accordingly, these characteristics support precise and certain alignment while also helping to increase speed on low-faced shots.

The lighter face of the Carbon Twist Face maximises energy transfer upon impact, improving ball speed, while the modified face structure counters off-centre hits.

Woods favours TaylorMade in his bag with just one club, his Scotty Cameron putter, not being made by the clubmaker he joined in 2017.
