Tiger chalked up Saturday’s historic struggles to a bad warmup session, hitting shots to “all the places that I know I shouldn’t hit it” and a marathon 23-hole Friday that physically wore him out.
“My team will get me ready,” he said Saturday afternoon for his status on Sunday. “It will be a long night and a long warmup session, but we’ll be ready.”
The good news is it can’t get much worse. The earlier, brisk conditions aren’t ideal for his surgically repaired and held-together body so I’m expecting him to gingerly make his way around the first few holes before it really warms up. It seemed like his back was more of an issue than his leg on Saturday, but only time will tell. Augusta National isn’t an easy walk, but he’s only got 18 more holes to get through.
Oh yeah, and he had a little emotional support on the range as he was joined by his son, Charlie Woods.
