Anirban Lahiri misses short putt

Anirban Lahiri had his nerves get the best of him at the LIV Golf event at Valderrama in Spain at the weekend.

He missed a putt from what couldn’t have been more than two feet to win his first event on the circuit.

In the league’s 10th tournament of the year, the 37-year-old went into the final round with a four-shot lead despite playing poorly for the bulk of the day.

With two holes left, he had made four bogeys and two birdies, but he birdied the par-5 17th and needed only to par the last hole to win when Sergio Garcia three-putted on his final hole of the day to card a bogey to finish.

Garcia won with par on the second playoff hole after Lahiri and the Spaniard both made par to start the shootout. On one of his favourite golf holes in the world, Garcia played 66 to win his first LIV tournament. In a playoff, his Fireballs team also took home the team title.
