Toby Collyer of Manchester United earns first selection to England Under-20s team – Latest Updates from Man United Transfer Market

"Brilliant" - David May full of praise for Toby Collyer after Manchester United debut - Man United News And Transfer News

Talented Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer has received his maiden call-up to the England Under-20s squad.

He has been called up to the team as a replacement for Manchester City starlet Nico O’Reilly.

Collyer will now be available to the side for selection ahead of their upcoming matches against Italy and the Czech Republic.

This is just the latest milestone in Collyer’s career, as he continues to catch the eye at United.

The player made his senior debut for the Red Devils in August when he came on as a substitute for the Community Shield clash against Pep Guardiola’s men at Wembley.

In doing so, Collyer became United’s 251st Academy graduate. Weeks later, he made his Premier League bow during a 3-0 home thrashing at the hands of bitter rivals Liverpool.

He was thrust into the action during the break in place of Casemiro, who had committed multiple high-profile mistakes that directly led to Liverpool breaching Andre Onana’s net.

Collyer has in the past represented and captained England at Under-16 and Under-17 levels.

England’s Under-20s are set to compete in the Euro Elite League, with matches against Italy in Frosinone on Thursday (4 p.m.) and the Czech Republic at Doncaster Rovers’ Keepmoat Stadium on Monday (7 p.m.).

Erik ten Hag is thought to be a big fan of Collyer and the Dutchman was personally present to witness the youngster sign a new long-term contract earlier this year.

The United boss included Collyer in the club’s pre-season tour and handed him a key role. Collyer impressed whenever given the opportunity.

The Red Devils acquired the highly-rated Collyer from Brighton & Hove Albion in March 2022. His rapid rise through the ranks has been impressive, with his England call-up adding another accolade to his growing list of achievements.
