The first month of the 2024 NFL season is officially in the books, with only two teams left in the league without a loss on their record so far.

One of those teams isn’t all that surprising as the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are sitting at 4-0 after four games, even though the team is incredibly banged up right now, especially at the wide receiver position, with Rashee Rice being the latest to go down with a severe injury.

The other team is quite a surprise, especially considering that they are getting a lot of consideration as the current best team in the NFL after the first month of the 2024 campaign, with Sam Darnold’s Minnesota Vikings sporting a flawless 4-0 record.

The Vikings were thought to struggle badly this year after Kirk Cousins left in NFL free agency and rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy suffered a season-ending injury before the season began, but that has been far from the case, with Darnold resurrecting his career as a starter in this league while leading this team to wins on a weekly basis.

Four weeks into the season, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith has chimed in with his current top-five NFL teams, starting with the Vikings and the Chiefs, followed by the Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders via First Take.

Although the Vikings are a surprise for how well they’ve played so far, they are definitely deserving of being atop this list, while the Chiefs, Ravens and Lions also make sense.

The Commanders, however, might be a little high or at least prematurely but have been impressive thus far, with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels leading the charge under center, helping pave the way to a 3-1 record.
