Harry Douglas enjoyed a solid nine-year NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans that saw him haul in 310 receptions.

He witnessed some spectacular running backs during his playing days and has a keen eye on the current game.

Douglas co-hosts an ESPN Radio program with Freddie Coleman and was asked who he believes the top five running backs currently are in the NFL.

The former wide receiver put together an impressive list.

At number five was Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns, who missed virtually all of 2023 with a serious knee injury but is one of the NFL’s strongest workhorses when healthy.

Douglas ranked new Philadelphia Eagle Saquon Barkley at number four.

Although it became fashionable for some to question whether Barkley lost a step and was wearing down, many expect the former New York Giant to find new life with the Eagles and have another dominating season.

Number three was Breece Hall, the up-and-coming New York Jet who burst onto the NFL scene in his second season in 2023 and displayed enormous talent for carrying the football.

Much is expected of the third-year pro in 2024.

Number two for Douglas was Derrick Henry, now of the Baltimore Ravens.

His style of running matches his new team’s personality perfectly, and the former 2,000-yard rusher should put up more big numbers at his new home.

And number one is no surprise – Christian McCaffrey.

The San Francisco 49ers star comes off a season where he was named the AP Offensive Player of the Year for his hard running style and versatility.

To Douglas and most NFL observers, McCaffrey is undoubtedly the best in the league.
