Texas basketball is undergoing significant changes to its roster as coach Rodney Terry gears up for his second full season at the helm. After finishing with a 21-13 (9-9 Big 12) record and making it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the Longhorns are saying goodbye to their top four scorers. While leading scorer Max Abmas and second-leading scorer Dylan Disu have exhausted their eligibility, third-leading scorer Tyrese Hunter and fourth-leading scorer Dillon Mitchell have announced their decision to enter the transfer portal.
As Texas bids farewell to key players, they are also welcoming a strong group of transfers to the team in preparation for their move from the Big 12 to the SEC. Tramon Mark, Julian Larry, and Jayson Kent are among the new additions, alongside five-star freshman guard Tre Johnson and four-star freshman forward Nicolas Codie.
The transfer portal window is open until May 1, giving players ample time to make their decisions on their next steps. Several notable players from various schools have already entered the portal, including Johnell Davis, Tucker DeVries, Zeke Mayo, Mark Mitchell, AJ Storr, Vladislav Goldin, Clifford Omoruyi, Tramon Mark, Oumar Ballo, DJ Wagner, Robbie Avila, Tony Perkins, Cade Tyson, Darlinstone Dubar, and Zvonimir Ivišić.
These players bring a mix of talent and experience to their new teams, offering potential boosts to their respective programs as they gear up for the upcoming season.
