Mason Greenwood’s impressive start to his debut season at Olympique de Marseille has caught the attention of top European clubs.
With five goals in his first four league games, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly monitoring the former Manchester United forward, as per HITC.
According to the report, both Real Madrid and Barcelona considered signing the Englishman last summer but decided to focus on other targets.
Greenwood’s last appearance for United was in January 2022, and he faced legal issues after being charged with multiple offenses. Despite rumors of a return to United, he was ultimately sold to Marseille for up to £26.6m after a successful loan spell at Getafe.
The deal included a sell-on percentage clause for United, highlighting the club’s investment in Greenwood’s future potential.
Greenwood, who recently signed a five-year contract with Marseille, would command a significant fee if he were to move on this summer.
The 22-year-old’s transfer to Marseille faced backlash from some fans and the mayor of the city, labeling it as a “disgrace.”
Despite the controversies surrounding his transfer, Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has praised Greenwood’s performance and attitude.
De Zerbi expressed his satisfaction with Greenwood’s contributions and highlighted the player’s potential for further improvement.
