I don’t currently carry any hybrids and have been struggling with my long irons. I was therefore intrigued to find out if the Qi10 Max would result in a higher shot yet retain distance. This club didn’t disappoint. It produced very consistent results and was the best in the Qi10 range in terms of accuracy. Like the Qi10 Hybrid family, the club sits beautifully behind the ball. The oversized head shape gives you extra confidence over the ball. Straight away, the club provided a clean contact off the floor and also sounded nice off the clubface. The stats have made me think I seriously need to ditch the long irons in favour of some hybrids, with a hybrid like this being a good option to hit to a tightly guarded long par-3 or for a long second shot into a par-4 when you need the ball to stop. Overall, I was really impressed with this hybrid’s performance. The offline stats were the best I produced, so I could imagine this becoming a go-to club if I had to hit it straight.

Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke HL Hybrid

Consistent with the new Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke family this is a great-looking club that produces consistent results. If you struggle to find consistency with your long irons and are looking for some extra height and length then this is a club you should seriously consider. The club provided a generous sweet spot and clean contact off the floor, and it was easy to hit off a tee. Compared to the standard Paradym Ai Smoke hybrid, this provided me with more height on my shots, which ultimately led to more distance.

Ping G430 Hybrid

I really like the more rounded, fairway wood style shaping Ping have used in this hybrid. As someone who is more of a sweeper of the golf ball this suits my eye perfectly. I also love how clean the crown is and the very subtle dot used in the center for alignment features. Hybrids are funny clubs as they are very much gap fillers. I wouldn’t say you want them to go excessive distances as they need to fit a certain slot in your golf bag. Traveling the required distance is very important though. Ping sent me a 4-hybrid and a 3-hybrid to test, as I would typically put these lofts in play. Both proved extremely consistent, especially with launch angle, which is great for getting a high ball flight and good predictable distances. I like that they are versatile and can be played from a variety of lies. If the ball is sat down or hidden in the rough, I give these the green light over bigger fairway woods. The adjustable hosel gives you a good opportunity to dial these in with your iron set so you can get the gapping of your clubs just right.

Wilson Dynapwr Hybrid

I love the simplicity of the head design, and the matte black head with red accents looks great. Wilson have used their tour players to help design the head, which has produced a flatter profile that makes it really inviting to hit. If we just start with its looks, the Dynapwr hybrid looks brilliant in your hand and behind the ball. I love that the face is more shallow than before, making it easy to launch, especially from rough lies. The head is quite big, which not everyone will like, but the mid to high handicapper, who is not necessarily the most consistent ball striker, will be grateful for this. It does give you confidence at address. My first few strikes with the Wilson Dynapwr hybrid were pretty terrible (user error), but I was pretty pleased with the results. Even with my necky strike, I could still hit a ball that curved to the left and go a reasonable distance, which is great news for the slicers out there. If you are a golfer that uses a hybrid plenty of times in a round because maybe you lack distance off the tee, this golf club will make a huge difference to your game. It’s as easy to hit as any hybrid I’ve hit, and you be very pleased with the results it produces.
