Top Players Confirmed for 2024 Cincinnati Open: Djokovic, Alcaraz, Sinner and Many Others

The 2024 Cincinnati Open will run from August 12th to 19th, and it will be the last ATP Masters 1000 tournament before the US Open. Every year, the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati is part of the North American hard-court swing leading up to the US Open. The tournament is preceded by the Canadian Open, and after one week for suitable rest, followed by the last Grand Slam of the season. Until recently, the tournament in Cincinnati was called the Western & Southern Open, because of sponsorship reasons, and there were even rumors that it may be moved to another city. However, that didn’t happen, and after the tournament stayed in Cincinnati, it was also officially rebranded to be called the Cincinnati Open, as it will be called in its 125th edition in 2024. Last year, Novak Djokovic won the trophy after beating Carlos Alcaraz in an epic final in Cincinnati. This year, both will be back to fight for the trophy again, and the Serbian as the defending champion. At the time of their entry for the tournament, there was, however, one player ranked above them on the ATP Tour, and that is none other than the World No. 1, Jannik Sinner, who will be coming to Cincinnati after attempting to defend his title in Canada. Over the years, many players lifted the trophy in Cincinnati, and a few of them are Grigor Dimitrov, who won in 2017, Daniil Medvedev, who is the 2019 champion, and also Alexander Zverev, who triumphed in 2021. All of them will be back in 2024 in search for their second title in Cincinnati. But as always at the ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, the pool of players capable of challenging for the trophy will be big, and it will certainly include some of the home-grown talent. The last American winner in Cincinnati was Andy Roddick, who won in 2003 and 2006, and this year, Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton, Sebastian Korda, and Frances Tiafoe will try to follow up on his triumph almost two decades later. Of course, the likes of Alex de Minaur, Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, and Stefanos Tsitsipas can’t be forgotten, as they will all be among the favorites in Cincinnati. The 2024 Cincinnati Open entry list can be seen in full below.
