Top Players To Add Include Jameis Winston and Gardner Minshew

The waiver wire is rarely rich at the QB position. We are now in Week 14. At this point, the surprise QB1s have already been added. Unfortunately, all we really have are glorified streamers. There’s just not much out there for fantasy football managers.

Top QB Waiver Wire Targets in Week 14

Jameis Winston, New Orleans Saints (1% Rostered)

For the second time this season, Derek Carr is in the concussion protocol. It would be pretty shocking if he were able to return in just one week, which means Jameis Winston is likely to start against the Carolina Panthers in Week 14.

More Waiver Wire Targets: WR | TE | RB

It’s not the greatest of matchups, but there isn’t a single quarterback rostered in fewer than 50% of leagues more worth picking up. With so many of them rostered, give Winston a look if you need a quarterback.

FAAB Recommendation: 0-5%

Gardner Minshew, Indianapolis Colts (23% Rostered)

Last week, Gardner Minshew was a recommended pickup purely based on his streamability for Week 13. With 18.68 fantasy points, I would say that worked out well for those who grabbed him. Well, he’s back on the menu for Week 14 if you need him.

The Colts have a road date against a Bengals team that watched its season essentially end when Joe Burrow went down. Cincinnati’s defense isn’t exactly an easy matchup, but it’s not an overly difficult one. You can certainly do worse than Minshew as a streamer.

Which QBs Should You Roster in Fantasy Football?

Should You Roster Jameis Winston or Matthew Stafford?

After 11 straight weeks of failing to so much as reach 18 fantasy points, Matthew Stafford has exploded for seven touchdowns over his last two games. He’s scored 24 and 23 fantasy points in those two games, respectively. Most impressively, he just did this against the Browns’ No. 1 ranked pass defense.

Winston hasn’t started a game since Week 3 of the 2022 season. While his gunslinging mentality can be good for fantasy, it’s difficult to know what to expect.

Stafford has a tough test against the Ravens next week, but in Week 15, the first week of the fantasy playoffs, he gets the worst pass defense in the NFL — the Washington Commanders. Given that the Rams are the superior offense to the Saints, give me Stafford here.

Should You Roster Gardner Minshew or Baker Mayfield?

From Weeks 7-10, Baker Mayfield never scored below 17 fantasy points. On the season, he’s been far better than anyone could’ve expected, proving he’s worthy of being a starting quarterback in the NFL.

Over the past three weeks, though, Mayfield’s production has fallen off. He’s thrown an interception in four straight games and hasn’t scored over 14 fantasy points.

While Minshew is a viable streamer, Mayfield has two soft matchups in his next three. With superior offensive weapons, Mayfield should remain a viable QB2.
