Top Players Wozniacki and Svitolina Face Off at 2024 Bad Homburg Open

Caroline Wozniacki hasn’t won a WTA Tour-level match since April, but she hopes things turn around against Elina Svitolina at the 2024 Bad Homburg Open.

The last time Wozniacki won was at the Charleston Open on April 1st, 2024, and it’s been a while since then. She’s only a week away from being winless for three months, and it’s been a terrible three months for the Dane.

She hasn’t played too much since then, losing all four matches, but it indicates that her form hasn’t been very good. Only her last match was played on the grass, and it wasn’t very good as Elise Mertens beat her in two sets.

Her next match is against Svitolina, who hasn’t played on grass at all this year but had a good run at Wimbledon last year and certainly played better in recent weeks than the former world no. 1.

Head-to-head:

So far, the matchup has heavily favored Svitolina, even though most of their matches were played long ago. In fact, five of the six matches were played before 2019, with only one being played this year.

It was in Auckland earlier this year, and it was a comfortable win for the Ukrainian. She is the better player right now and has generally played better recently, so it’s not surprising.

It should be even easier for Svitolina on grass because Wozniacki hasn’t looked very good on the surface. Can she win? She can, but it will take a great level, which we haven’t seen from her in a very long time.

29 Age 33
18-11 2024 W/L 7-7
472-251 Career W/L 646-274

Prediction:

Outside of a spectacular showing from Wozniacki, the Dane doesn’t have many chances to win this match. Svitolina is just too good for her right now, and historically, the same is true.

Prediction: Elina Svitolina to win in two sets.
