While Nevada is a state dominated by the desert, it doesn’t lack for golf courses of great quality.
However, that doesn’t mean it’s an easy task to get a great round of golf in for a vaguely reasonable price.
If you aren’t a high roller, we have put together a list of the best publicly accessible courses that can, at some times at least, be played for less than $100.
Red Hawk Golf and Resort – Hills Course
US golfing icon Hale Irwin was instrumental in bringing soul and purpose to his signature design, The Hills Course. This 7,106-yard Reno, Nevada golf course is renowned for its small greens, dramatic elevation changes and devilishly deep bunkers.
The undulating fairways, surrounding mountains, big sky views, and natural wildlife create breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Spanish Springs Valley. Incorporating aspects of what was once a working ranch and adding crystal clear lakes for an additional challenge, Hale created a course that brings every club out of the bag and into play. A true experience you can’t get at other golf resorts in the Reno area.

Angel Park Golf Club – Palm Course
Angel Park’s Palm Course opened in 1989 and was designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer. The course has views of the Red Rock Mountains as well as the Las Vegas Strip. The Palm Course is not a long layout but challenges golfers with difficult putting surfaces, perfectly positioned sand bunkers and par 3s that will require great precision. Meanwhile, the par 5s are opportunities to make up some strokes and the par 4s will thoroughly test your accuracy from tee to green.

Toiyabe Golf Club
This semi-private golf club nestled in the foothills of the Toiyabe National Forest and the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Washoe Valley, Nevada is a budget-friendly stunner. The club’s signature 18-hole Robert Muir Graves-designed course blends links-style with Alpine golf that will challenge low handicap players, as well as golfers of all abilities. Toiyabe’s course measures 7,166 yards from the tips but can be shortened by a full thousand yards by using the white tees with intermediate blue tees bridging the gap.

Golf Summerlin – Palm Valley Golf Course
Palm Valley is Golf Summerlin’s longest and most challenging course. Mature, gently undulating fairways are generous enough to allow most players to hit with the driver all day, but the deceptively rolling bentgrass greens make every two-putt testy. Pine trees line many of the fairways, and 68 bunkers also add elements of challenge and the requirement of a precision game to the course.

Toana Vista Golf Course
The Homer Flint-designed Toana Vista Golf Course was opened in 1989 and is still thrilling visitors to this day as an exciting layout that requires thought and great shotmaking skills. Being in Wendover this is a bit of a hidden gem with the course very well maintained and tee times not difficult to come by. The course features stunning views of the surrounding desert and is also a great place to spot some local wildlife.

Boulder Creek Golf Club
Nestled between three mountain ranges and adjacent to the Hoover Dam, Boulder City Golf Course is more than just a stunning 18-hole golf course. Acclaimed architects Billy Casper and David Rainville established the course in 1973 into a 6,600 yard, par 72 layout that provides a haven for native plants, abundant treescapes and several integral water features. A traditional layout, the Boulder City Golf Course features tree-lined fairways and large receptive greens with water features on seven holes. The course has a slope of 117 for men and 123 for women. It’s very enjoyable for all levels of ability and rounds are usually played in four-and-a-half hours or less.

Angel Park Golf Club – Mountain Course
The Mountain Course was inaugurated in 1990 having been designed by Arnold Palmer. This layout has beautiful views of the Red Rock Mountains. Situated on the west side of the Angel Park property, the Mountain Course is slightly longer than the Palm Course and offers more difficulty when playing the par 5s and par 4s. Like the Palm Course, the Mountain Course has extremely challenging greens and a player must have real focus with their putts.
