Chelsea’s goalkeeper Mike Penders has been performing admirably on loan at Strasbourg this season, garnering interest from several clubs in the Premier League.
Reports from TeamTalk indicate that Tottenham Hotspur have made inquiries about the 20-year-old Belgian shot-stopper, but Chelsea has declined the approach. The club has no intention of parting ways with Penders in the near future.
Future Plans for Penders
Chelsea aims to provide Penders with the starting goalkeeper position next season. The current goalkeepers, Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen, have not impressed the coaching staff, leading Chelsea to believe that Penders could be their best option moving forward. The young goalkeeper was acquired by Chelsea for £17 million in 2024.
On the other hand, Tottenham is also on the lookout for a new goalkeeper. Guglielmo Vicario’s performances have fallen short, and he may be moving on in the summer. Penders has displayed significant talent during his time in France and could be a valuable long-term addition for the north London club. However, Chelsea is not inclined to let him go.

In addition to Tottenham, Newcastle United is also reportedly interested in securing Penders’ services. It remains to be seen if they will make a serious offer to Chelsea come summer.
Penders aspires to showcase his abilities in the Premier League, and the chance to play consistently for Chelsea excites him. He is unlikely to push for a transfer anytime soon, which may complicate efforts from clubs like Tottenham and Newcastle to land him.
