Defoe’s Aspirations to Manage Tottenham
While Defoe is dedicated to his new responsibilities at Woking, he has openly expressed his long-standing desire to manage Tottenham someday.
In a prior interview with the Daily Mail, the celebrated forward shared that taking charge of his former club would be “amazing.” He stated, “Managing Tottenham would be incredible. The unpredictability of football means opportunities can arise at any moment.”
Defoe holds a cherished place in Tottenham’s recent history, having scored 143 goals during two tenures at the club, making him their sixth-highest all-time scorer. Presently, he aims to secure a promotion for Woking, proving his capability to be a successful manager.
Tottenham in Search of New Manager After Tudor’s Departure
Defoe’s new role comes at a tumultuous time for Tottenham following Igor Tudor’s recent departure. The club is currently on the lookout for its third manager this season.
With Spurs just one point above the Premier League relegation zone, the managerial position is considered one of the most challenging in European football. Roberto De Zerbi is at the top of their wish list, with reports indicating that Spurs are actively pursuing him.
Should De Zerbi decline the opportunity, other potential candidates include Sean Dyche and Glen Hoddle, among several others, as the club looks to stabilize its managerial situation.
