Tottenham has made significant moves in the January transfer window, securing a deal for Conor Gallagher while also keeping an eye on Liverpool’s Curtis Jones.

Following a serious injury to Rodrigo Bentancur, Spurs acted quickly, reaching an agreement with Atletico Madrid for Gallagher at a fee of £34.7 million on Monday.

Aston Villa initially aimed to acquire the former Chelsea player, but Tottenham managed to intervene and secure the agreement.

Sources within the club indicate that the recruitment team had been analyzing various high-profile midfield candidates to discover the ideal fit for a modern central midfielder.

Tottenham’s Interest in Curtis Jones

Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe shared insights on the club’s transfer strategy via X, noting that Curtis Jones was among the players being considered.

When a fan inquired if Spurs were pursuing a ‘progressive’ midfielder, O’Keefe commented: “Not really progressive, but they had Curtis Jones on their list. Presumably, they will move on from that now with 1 year left on his contract.”

I don’t know. Not really progressive but they had Curtis Jones on their list. Presumably they scrub that now – 1 year left on his deal.

With increasing pressure on manager Thomas Frank to improve results, Tottenham may look for additional reinforcements in the near future.
