Training Disagreement between Former Man United Striker Wout Weghorst and Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber – Latest Updates on Man United’s News and Transfers

Former Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst involved in training spat with Arsenal's Jurrien Timber - Man United News And Transfer News

Former Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst is at the centre of controversy after being involved in a bust-up with Arsenal player Jurrien Timber during training with the Netherlands.

The two players were almost teammates as United showed strong interest in the Dutch defender back in 2022 before he eventually signed for Arsenal a year later.

Weghorst joined United in a shock loan deal from Burnley in January 2023 and scored two goals in 31 appearances for the Red Devils, as he failed to secure a permanent move to Old Trafford.

The two players have been at the centre of a very public spat in training ahead of the Netherland’s mouth-watering clash against Germany in the Nations League tomorrow night.

Video footage captured a standard training rondo until Timber arrived late and caught Weghorst on the ankle while he was still on the ball.

The tall striker fell to the ground, grimacing from the pain and there was no sign of an apology from the Arsenal man who moved on to follow the play.

Moments later the two could be seen having a heated argument before Weghorst stormed off the training pitch in a less than content mood.

The Daily Mail report that the Dutch boss Ronald Koeman had to intervene to try and calm the two players down.

The 32 year old couldn’t let it slide however and was seen having to be calmed down once more by teammate Jan Paul van Hecke.

Weghorst eventually left the pitch and was seen cycling away from the incident whilst on his phone.

Koeman has confirmed that the former United striker did not pick up an injury but he will be hoping this doesn’t derail the positive feeling from the 5-2 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina, when the former United man found the net with his 13th strike for his country.

This is not the first time the 32 year old has had a falling out with a player, as he famously got involved in a verbal altercation with Lionel Messi after his side’s quarter final loss on penalties to Argentina in the 2022 World Cup.
