Patrick Mahomes’ Fantasy Outlook
After five consecutive seasons averaging at least 20.7 fantasy points per game and finishing no lower than overall QB6, Mahomes was merely the QB10 last season, averaging 18.4 fantasy points per game. There are a couple of things we can point at to explain Mahomes’ decrease in production. NFL defenses are taking away the deep ball. Mahomes didn’t suddenly become a terrible deep ball passer. The reason he averaged a career-low 7.0 yards per attempt is because he’s not going to force the ball downfield when it’s not there. This worked out fine for the Chiefs (they did win the Super Bowl, after all), but the lack of splash plays isn’t great for fantasy.
As for his weaponry, last season Mahomes had a subpar group of pass-catchers. Rice didn’t emerge as a starter until the second half of the season. The additions of Brown and Worthy this season bring new hope for Mahomes to elevate his fantasy production.
Isiah Pacheco’s Fantasy Outlook
The skepticism surrounding Isiah Pacheco’s legitimacy last year was warranted. However, he proved himself as a secure starter last season. With an improved offense, Pacheco is set for a strong fantasy season.
Rashee Rice’s Fantasy Outlook
When it comes to Rashee Rice’s suspension uncertainty, his potential for a high target share and efficiency after the catch make him a fantasy WR1 candidate. The additions of Brown and Worthy complement Rice well.
Hollywood Brown’s Fantasy Outlook
As Brown is expected to start as the WR2 opposite Rice, he has WR2 upside in a pass-heavy Chiefs offense. The presence of Worthy adds an element of competition for snaps and targets.
Xavier Worthy’s Fantasy Outlook
As a rookie, Worthy brings uncertainty to the Chiefs’ receiving corps. While he may initially rotate with Brown, he has the potential to earn a larger role as the season progresses.
Travis Kelce’s Fantasy Outlook
Rumors of Travis Kelce’s retirement have been exaggerated. With a contract extension, Kelce remains a key part of the Chiefs’ offense and a top fantasy tight end option.
