Any questions about how the Jacksonville Jaguars view their franchise quarterback were laid to rest this week as the team signed Trevor Lawrence to a massive five-year, $275 million contract extension.
Lawrence recently indicated that he wanted to have his financial situation set in stone before training camp, and his team complied.
The young quarterback will earn $55 million per season with the Jags, which matches Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow for annual salary and contract value.
Many believe Lawrence has earned the respect that comes with the massive deal.
As reported by NFL on CBS, Lawrence is quickly climbing the statistical ladder for Jaguars quarterbacks and is well on his way to the top.

The Clemson product is already fifth in team wins in franchise history with 20, and he is currently fourth in passing yards (11,770) and passing touchdowns (58).
Many believe Lawrence is destined to become one of the league’s elite quarterbacks.
His climb to the top got off to a rocky start as his rookie season was mostly wasted under the lack of leadership and tutelage of Urban Meyer.
But Doug Pederson came in from Philadelphia and righted the ship in 2022, and along with Lawrence, led Jacksonville back to the playoffs for the first time in five seasons.
Lawrence also drew wide praise for engineering the team’s historic playoff comeback against the Chargers.
Last season was more of a rocky campaign as the team struggled down the stretch before failing to secure a second straight postseason berth.
But officials apparently saw enough in Lawrence to guarantee his future leading the franchise.
