Troy Aikman Criticizes Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb and Wide Receiver Group for Lack of Effort

After a disappointing 47-9 defeat at home against the Lions, the Cowboys are sitting at 3-3 for the season. Dallas began the season with a 1-2 record and has since gone 2-1 in their last three games. However, the Cowboys’ offense has been struggling in their recent games, only averaging 16.3 points. They were unable to score a touchdown in Week 6 against Detroit.

Former Cowboys quarterback and Hall of Famer Troy Aikman is a regular guest on 96.7 The Ticket on Thursday mornings. Today, Aikman expressed his dissatisfaction with Dallas’ wide receivers. Aikman even went as far as calling CeeDee Lamb and his fellow wide receivers “lazy” based on what he has observed in film. Dallas will need more productivity from their wideouts going forward if they hope to have a shot at the playoffs.

Cowboys need to regroup during the bye week and focus on preparing their WRs for the upcoming game against the 49ers

In six games this season, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has thrown eight touchdowns and six interceptions. Prescott had a rough outing against the Lions in Week 6, with zero touchdown passes and two interceptions. He was also limited to under 200 passing yards for the second time this season. The lack of support from his wide receivers has exacerbated Prescott’s struggles in recent games. This is particularly true for All-Pro WR CeeDee Lamb, who has yet to surpass 100 receiving yards in a game this season and has only scored two touchdowns in six games.

ESPN Monday Night Football color commentator Troy Aikman has criticized CeeDee Lamb and his fellow wide receivers, labeling them as “lazy” in their performance. Aikman, who still analyzes film as a commentator, has not been impressed with the Cowboys’ wideouts. He mentioned that the receivers lack hustle off the line of scrimmage unless they know the ball is coming to them. Dallas cannot afford such lackluster effort from their wide receivers if they intend to secure victories. If Aikman is observing these issues on film, the coaching staff must also take notice. It remains to be seen if any changes will be made during the bye week to get the Cowboys’ receiving corps back on the right track.
