Tsitsipas Criticized for Allegedly Mocking Girlfriend Badosa

Tsitsipas Looks Back On Heated Clash With Kyrgios At Wimbledon

Stefanos Tsitsipas‘s lunch date with Paula Badosa ended with him being scolded for allegedly mocking his girlfriend because of her eating habits.

Tsitsipas and Badosa, the most popular tennis couple of the current generation, reunited after a brief split a few months ago. They have been displaying their romantic life on social media but now strive to keep it more private according to Badosa.

Tsitsipas and Badosa, both Wimbledon Championships participants, faced different results. Tsitsipas was defeated by Emil Ruusuvuori in the second round, while Badosa made it to the second week in the women’s tournament but lost to Donna Vekic in the fourth round.

Upon returning to Monaco, Tsitsipas shared on his Instagram stories a light-hearted moment of heading out for lunch with Badosa, where he jokingly referred to her as a “Hippo” due to her eating habits.

“It’s a wonderful day here at the Principality. Paula (Badosa) is hungry, as always, so I started calling her Hippo. We’re both enjoying our first days of sun and weather that doesn’t disappoint. I think there are some fans behind me. Or Paula’s fans? I can hear chattering. A lot of female fans.”

“You are allowed to eat now as much as you want because there is plenty of walking back after. You know that your name is small and humble and you are none of those. But you are not small, you are grande.”

Tsitsipas’ lighthearted remarks about Badosa have caused controversy, especially considering his previous backlash over gender stereotypes shared on social media.

While some fans disapproved of Tsitsipas’ comments, others viewed it as playful banter between the couple. The disagreement among fans led to a mix of criticism and support for Tsitsipas and Badosa.
