If there’s one thing that top players in any sport and certainly the NFL notice, it’s when other stars at their positions get a major payday.

Recent quarterback deals are not lost on Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who told reporters on Tuesday that he is not “concerned” with his contract situation.

But he added that he is indeed “antsy” about securing a new extension.

Cameron Wolfe noted that Tagovailoa declared that “the market is the market” and that he is “confident that a deal will get done.”

Though he reported to the team’s mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, Tagovailoa said that he is anxious to get something done in light of the compensation his peers are receiving.

“I’m not blind to the people that are in my position that are getting paid,” he told the media while emphasizing his desire to get the new deal done.

Tagovailoa has notably been absent on occasions this offseason from OTAs but would not confirm that this sporadic attendance is linked to unhappiness with his current deal.

After leading the NFL in passing yards and garnering his first Pro Bowl invitation in 2023, the quarterback enjoys the backing of his teammates.

Superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill believes a new deal aligned with his achievements is past due for Tagovailoa.

“Tua should’ve been paid…I’ve been saying this all offseason, man, I know we got a great front office…They’re going to get it done.”

And with his contract ending this year, Tagovailoa currently stands as the 25th highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.

That is obviously going to change.
