Tuchel Slams 'Silent' Wembley Crowd After England's Victoryn

Tuchel Critiques Wembley Atmosphere Following England’s Victory Over Wales

After England’s impressive 3-0 triumph over Wales, coach Thomas Tuchel expressed his disappointment with the atmosphere at Wembley Stadium, which he felt did not reflect the performance of his players.

Goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Bukayo Saka within the first 20 minutes propelled England to a commanding lead in Thursday’s friendly match.

Despite the sizable crowd of 78,126, Tuchel criticized the lack of engagement from fans during the match, feeling more support was warranted for his team’s strong display.

In an interview with ITV, Tuchel remarked, “We had one-and-a-half training days to prepare against a well-drilled team and we performed very well. We could have been 5-0 up at half-time, but the stadium felt silent. We didn’t receive any energy back from the stands. We did everything to secure the win.”

When asked if he expected greater support from the audience, Tuchel replied, “Yes. What could be done in those 20 minutes? We kept them contained, yet we only heard the Welsh fans for half an hour, which is disappointing because the team deserved more encouragement today.”

In the post-match press conference, Tuchel referred to the support England typically enjoys during tournaments, noting, “I am confident we will have outstanding backing in Latvia [on Tuesday]. We experienced fantastic support in Serbia.”

He added, “However, we were 3-0 up after just 23 minutes, consistently winning the ball back, and I wondered why the crowd wasn’t more engaged. This could have revitalized us in the second half. No worries, we will strive to make the experience more infectious. I genuinely believe we will rally everyone together. It’s on us, but I was somewhat disappointed today.”
