After making some drastic changes during the NFL offseason, namely parting ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick and trading Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the New England Patriots were expected to experience some significant struggles during the 2024 NFL season.

Ironically, the Patriots made some noise right out of the gate by pulling off the biggest upset of Week 1, going on the road to take on Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium and coming out on top against a team that was thought to be a Super Bowl title contender this year.

Despite the impressive Week 1 win for new head coach Jerod Mayo and company, the Patriots haven’t been able to get back on track, suffering three straight losses and showing that this team has a lot of work to do to right the ship in New England.

Ahead of Week 5’s matchup against the division-rival Miami Dolphins, some rumors were swirling that players in the Patriots locker room are not happy and might be lobbying for the team to start rookie quarterback Drake Maye over veteran Jacoby Brissett, who has struggled.

As if that wasn’t enough to be concerned about in New England, the team has 13 players on the injury report for the game against the Dolphins, with 12 of those players being listed as questionable and one doubtful via Savage Sports.

Mayo has a challenging task, as he’s already trying to make an impression in New England and now has to deal with disgruntled players and many injuries.

Fortunately, the Dolphins aren’t much better off, as Mike McDaniel is dealing with his fair share of struggles with a season that has not gone according to plan after star quarterback Tau Tagovailoa went down with a concussion in Week 2.
