Two 8’s and 9 birdies! This DP World Tour scorecard is insane…

Sebastian Soderberg made seven birdies on the front nine in round one of the Hero Indian Open – and only shot one-under-par.

Better yet, Soderberg made nine birdies in round one of the Hero Indian Open – and only shot one-under-par.

Well, what if I also told you that Soderberg made a triple-bogey and a quadruple-bogey – and still managed to shoot one-under-par.

It was quite the day for the Swede who had more colours on his scorecard than a snooker table at this Asian Swing event on the DP World Tour.

He made a bogey on his first hole, the 10th hole at DLF G&CC in New Delhi, a golf course that has become known for its monstrous bunkers and brutal nature in general.

He got himself back to level-par by the 14th tee box, but the first disaster of the day was on its way.

Soderberg made his first 8 of the day here, but he put this behind him during the next 11 holes. He made a birdie on 15 and six consecutive birdies from hole 2 to hole 7.

He was back to three-under-par for the tournament and ascending the busy leaderboard by the minute.

But he shredded his score with another 8 on the par-5 8th hole. Back to square one, he went.

One last birdie on 9 took him into the red for the day. You can’t imagine Soderberg has taken more scenic routes to a 71 before in his career which has seen him win the 2019 Omega European Masters.
