Tyler Adams features for Bournemouth’s developmental squad

Tyler Adams has officially made his first appearance of 2024.

Adams featured for Bournemouth’s developmental squad on Tuesday in a 5-0 win over Colchester United’s Under-21 side. The match was played behind closed doors at Bournemouth’s training facility.

The 25-year-old Adams had been sidelined since last October following hamstring surgery. Adams originally suffered his injury last April while at Leeds United, which forced him to miss the summer schedule and the beginning of Bournemouth’s English Premier League campaign.

After making his club debut last October against Stoke City in EFL Cup play, Adams re-aggravated his injury which led to a second surgery of 2023.

Adams’ availability remains unknown for the U.S. men’s national team’s upcoming CONCACAF Nations League schedule. The USMNT faces Jamaica on March 21 in the semifinal round, with a potential final looming for the third-straight edition of the tournament.

Adams was part of Gregg Berhalter’s 60-player preliminary roster and remains eligible to make Berhalter’s final roster later this month.

“Copa America I think is something that is more realistic, but I wouldn’t rule out Nations League because (Adams) is training with his team now,” Berhalter said in an interview with The Athletic earlier this week. “He’s back to training. So there’s possibilities.”

Bournemouth’s league schedule continues on Saturday with a home showdown vs. Sheffield United. Should Adams remain with the developmental squad, their next match is against Cardiff City’s U-21 squad on March 15.
