Tyler Adams in peak physical condition before USMNT comeback

Tyler Adams "looking fit" ahead of USMNT return

Tyler Adams may have only made five appearances this year for both his club and country, but the U.S. men’s national team midfielder is on track to increase that number in the upcoming weeks.

Adams participated in the USMNT’s initial training session on Wednesday in preparation for the pre-Copa America friendlies against Colombia and Brazil in June. Despite a challenging first season with Bournemouth, where he struggled with a hamstring injury that kept him out for most of the year, Adams managed to make his debut in 2024 in mid-March and had a couple of strong showings for both Bournemouth and the USMNT during the CONCACAF Nations League Final Four.

As Adams works towards full fitness once again, USMNT assistant coach B.J. Callaghan shared an encouraging update with the media, stating, “I can just tell you that [Adams] is in great spirits. He’s looking fit, he’s here in training, and we’ve had a really great partnership with Bournemouth over the last couple of weeks to ensure that we have a plan in place to maximize his performance during the upcoming friendlies and Copa America.”

Adams will be alongside familiar faces such as Weston McKennie, Yunus Musah, and Luca De La Torre in the USMNT midfield. The team is set to face Colombia and Brazil before kicking off Group C play at the Copa America against Bolivia on June 23.
