Tyrell Malacia makes a comeback to Manchester United training after extended absence – Latest updates on Man United’s News and Transfer Activity

Tyrell Malacia returns to Manchester United training after long hiatus - Man United News And Transfer News

Tyrell Malacia’s fitness programme is making encouraging progress at Carrington.

Manchester United’s official website posted a picture of the young left-back training individually under the medical staff’s guidance as he aims to regain full fitness ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Malacia, who joined United from Feyenoord in 2022 and has made 39 appearances for the club, missed the entire previous season due to an injury.

His last appearance was in United’s 2-1 home victory against Fulham at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

The Netherlands international has worked diligently throughout the summer break and is now back at United’s training base, showcasing his commitment to return to peak condition.

Manager Erik ten Hag has previously highlighted the impact of Malacia’s absence, particularly given the simultaneous injury of Luke Shaw.

“We talk about one of my biggest frustrations there,” Ten Hag commented. “You can accept in a position that a player is not available, but when two players are not available over the course of the season that is very frustrating.”

Malacia’s return is crucial for United, who are preparing for a demanding schedule.

Ten Hag’s team is set to face Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 10, followed by Premier League fixtures against Fulham and Brighton later in the month.

The manager expressed his frustration last season, noting, “It is very difficult to catch up as a team, but we dealt with it in the best way, but of course it is a disadvantage.”

With Malacia’s dedicated efforts and the medical team’s support, United fans have reasons to be optimistic about the defender’s return.

As the new season approaches, his recovery progress will be closely monitored, aiming for a significant contribution to the squad’s success.
