In today’s NFL, it is rare for a player to play for a team for ten years or more.
There are many reasons behind this, including age, lack of production or performance, or a better offer to play elsewhere.
While players like to be loyal to the team that drafted them, money talks in this league.
It can be hard to pass up if they get a more enticing offer or a chance to play on a team with a better chance of a Super Bowl ring.
Throughout his 13-year career, Tyron Smith has never wavered from his loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys.
He has been a tremendous offensive tackle for this team and a stable protector for the quarterback under center.
However, that changed this offseason, as he and the Cowboys could not come up with a deal for the 2024 campaign.
Smith posted a goodbye message, which Ed Werder recently highlighted on Twitter in light of him leaving the team.
Smith said many positive things about the team, and the last few lines of his message were telling about how fondly he looks upon his career.
“Cowboy Nation- thank you for everything. While I’m excited for this next chapter of my football career, part of my heart will forever be left in Texas. Until we meet again…”

Smith’s message has since been shared by thousands of Cowboys fans, who will miss him, both on and off the field.
It was recently announced that Smith is signing with the New York Jets, so he will not have to compete in the same conference as the Cowboys.
