Despite a less than stellar season, Newcastle United still has a chance to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
New regulations set by UEFA in 2024 state that the top two nations by coefficient will receive an additional Champions League slot.
Newcastle’s Hope for Champions League Qualification
This season, thanks to the success of English clubs in Europe, there is a strong likelihood that an extra Champions League position will become available. Typically, the top four teams from the Premier League are granted entry into the competition, but this season, a fifth-place finish may also suffice for qualification.
Aston Villa, who are currently vying for a top-four position, are favorites to claim the UEFA Europa League title. If they slip to the fifth spot yet win the competition, it would allow the sixth-placed team to enter the Champions League via a European performance slot.
Additionally, if Liverpool were to secure either the fifth or sixth position while winning the UEFA Champions League this season, the team finishing seventh could also qualify based on the same criteria.

Currently, Newcastle trails seventh-placed Brentford by three points. Achieving Champions League football next season involves numerous factors needing to align favorably for them.
The ability of Newcastle to conclude the season on a high note, along with the success of other English clubs in Europe, will be crucial. With a talented squad at their disposal, the team feels they could have performed significantly better than they have this season.
